In the tanning production cycle, the environment has always been a fundamental element to be managed and controlled on an ongoing basis. In addition to this, in the last few years the reference market, and in particular the fashion brands, have raised their attention to environmental issues by heavily influencing the supply chain.
In this context, the Management decided in 2015 to implement an Environmental Management System, obtaining the UNI EN ISO 14001 certification from ICEC, an accredited ACCREDIA organization. The Management System has allowed the Tannery to systematically pursue continuous improvement of performances also on the environmental front, intended both as increased efficiency of production processes (technological investments, reduction of raw material waste, water, air, energy) and as greater control of production costs (purification, waste management, etc.).
When it comes to social responsibility, in 2016 Vesta Corporation obtained a certification of compliance with the UNIC Code of Conduct and Social Responsibility (see ICEC Certificate No. 012), based on the certification issued by ICEC (Certification Institute for the Quality of the Tanning Industry).
In the face with the ever-increasing demand for legality and transparency in the fashion industry’s production chains, Vesta Corporation has decided to adhere to the UNIC Code and to submit regular verification activities by an Accredited and Expert Body such as I.CE.C. for the leather sector, in order to provide concrete answers to all the stakeholders.
