SUSTAINABILITY

ENVIRONMENT AND ETHICS

Sustainability applied to the manufacturing process
for outstanding leather products.
Values, actions, certifications.

At Vesta Corporation our values have become actions and our actions have become certifications. For over ten years now, Vesta has been following the pathway of research to produce top-quality leather using a production cycle centred around the safety of its workers and environmental protection. The first certification – Environmental Management System, UNI EN ISO 14001 by ICEC – was obtained in 2015. It paved the way for a long route towards improvement that still continues today, in which we have invested systematically to achieve goals and certifications that are important for us. They speak to our commitment, aimed at ensuring fashion brands that our production chain is sustainable, transparent and certified.

ENVIRONMENT
As part of the tanning production cycle, the environmental component has always paved a pivotal role. It is something that needs to be managed and controlled on a regular basis, and with all due care, to safeguard the company and the environment in which it operates.
Within this framework, our Management decided – in 2015 – to implement an Environmental Management System based on the UNI EN ISO 14001 certification awarded by ICEC, an organization recognized by Accredia. This Management System has allowed Vesta Corporation to systematically pursue the continuous improvement of performance levels, also in environmental terms. This led both to greater efficiency of manufacturing processes (investment in new technologies, fewer raw materials, water, air, and energy wasted) and to a more stringent control of production costs (waste disposal, treatment, etc.).

SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILTY
Being social accountability a top priority, in 2016 Vesta Corporation was among the first tanning companies in Italy to be awarded a certification of compliance with the UNIC Code of Conduct and Social Accountability (see ICEC certificate no. 012), based on the certification issued by ICEC (Institute of Quality Certification for the Leather Sector).
In view of an increasing demand for legal compliance and transparency in the production chain of the fashion sector, Vesta Corporation decided to sign up to the UNIC code, which requires auditing activities on a regular basis by a certified, specialized organization such as I.CE.C. for the leather sector, in order to provide concrete answers to all the relevant stakeholders.
This certification allows the company to reassure its customers in respect of its full compliance as regards the following matters: employment standards, protection of employees, health and safety, environment, etc.

This confirms its knowing the countries of origin of its raw materials, slaughterhouses and farms where the animals are reared.

LEATHER WORKING GROUP: GOLD RATED
Vesta Corporation is LWG-certified. Leather Working Group is the leading organisation which issued the first worldwide leather processing certification. The aim of LWG is to reduce the environmental impact of the leather industry through an assessment and certification of leather manufacturers. It also aims at involving the members of the leather supply chain, providing them with the necessary know-how to make informed, sustainable business decisions. In 2023 Vesta was awarded a GOLD RATED certification.
